## What is Insulin Glargine-Yfgn?

Insulin Glargine-Yfgn (brand name: Admelog) is an insulin analog. It is prescribed to treat control blood sugar in people who have type 1 diabetes (condition in which the body does not make insulin and therefore cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood) or in people who have type 2 diabetes (condition in which the blood sugar is too high because the body does not produce or use insulin normally) that cannot be controlled with oral medications alone. Across the United States, 7,000 doctors prescribe Insulin to approximately 42,000 Medicare patients.

Insulin Glargine-Yfgn is primarily prescribed for the treatment of control blood sugar in people who have type 1 diabetes (condition in which the body does not make insulin and therefore cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood) or in people who have type 2 diabetes (condition in which the blood sugar is too high because the body does not produce or use insulin normally) that cannot be controlled with oral medications alone.

## Mechanism of action

Regulation of glucose metabolism is the primary activity of insulins and insulin analogs, including insulin lispro products. Insulins lower blood glucose by stimulating peripheral glucose uptake by skeletal muscle and fat, and by inhibiting hepatic glucose production.
